Watermark your ID before you send it
Landlords, letting agents, employers and online services often ask for a photo of your passport, driving licence or ID card. A copy sent without a watermark can be reused by anyone who gets hold of it. Write what it’s for across it, like “Copy for ABC Lettings, rental application, June 2026”, and it becomes much harder to misuse. The French government recommends this and runs its own tool for it.
Because your ID never leaves your phone here, the watermark is added before anyone else sees the photo, us included.
Text or logo
Text: type anything, pick a font, colour and bold. Image: pick your logo; a PNG with a transparent background looks best. Then set the size, how see-through it is, and the angle.
Repeat across the photo covers the whole picture with your watermark, which is best for IDs and for photos you don’t want cropped and reused. Turn it off to place one watermark in a corner, an edge or the middle.
Pick as many photos as you like: each one gets the same watermark, scaled to its size.
Questions
What should I write on a copy of my ID?
Who it’s for, what it’s for and the date, for example “Copy for ABC Lettings, rental application, 12 June 2026”. Keep it across the photo and the details, but leave the text readable.
Can someone remove the watermark?
A watermark repeated across the photo, over the important details, is very hard to remove cleanly. A small watermark in a corner can be cropped off, so use Repeat across the photo for anything sensitive.
Can I watermark many photos at once?
Yes. Pick them all. Each photo gets the same watermark, sized to fit it.
Will the quality drop?
Barely. Photos are saved at high quality in the same format, with the watermark drawn in.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The watermark is added on your phone or computer, in the browser. Load the page, turn on airplane mode and try it: it still works.
