Pure white, the way marketplaces want it

Amazon asks for the main product image on a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) with the product filling about 85% of the frame. eBay, Etsy and the resale apps look cleaner and sell better with the same look. Take your photos on the kitchen table, pick them here, and each product is cut out and put on pure white.

Choose a size to have each product cropped, centred and squared: Amazon 2000 by 2000, eBay 1600 by 1600, Etsy 2000 by 2000, or a 1280 square for Depop, Vinted and Poshmark.

Tips for a clean result

Shoot in daylight, with the product on a plain surface and nothing touching it. Keep the whole product in the frame, with a little space around it. Shiny and see-through products (glass, chrome) are the hardest: a plain light background behind them helps.

Just need a plain white image?

Pick any photo, choose White, and set the size to Same as photo: the result is the subject on white at the photo’s size. For a blank white picture with nothing on it, a screenshot of an empty note does the job too.

Questions

Is the white really pure white?

Yes. The background is filled with RGB 255, 255, 255 before the photo is saved as a high-quality JPG, which is what Amazon checks for.

Does this meet every Amazon image rule?

It handles the white background, the square shape and the 85% fill. The rest is up to the photo: show only the product being sold, in focus, without added text or logos.

Can I do all my listing photos at once?

Yes. Pick them all; each one is done in turn on your device and comes out the same size.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The background is removed on your phone or computer, in the browser. The first time, your device downloads the background remover (about 6 MB) and keeps it. After that, load the page, turn on airplane mode and try it: it still works.
